Business Systems Analyst
We are looking for a business systems analyst, reporting to the Director of IT, to serve as the liaison between Information Technology and the company’s business units. The role will work with internal customers to understand the business environment and needs, to identify areas for process improvement, and to recommend and implement these improvements in new and existing business applications.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform business and systems problem analysis
• Conduct interviews, fact-finding, and analysis to understand existing business needs
• Translate business needs into Business Requirements and Functional Specifications documentation
• Perform independent research to recommend creative, progressive IT solutions for business problems
• Communicate findings to business leaders and senior management
2. Identify system and process improvements
• Identify opportunities for improvements in existing business processes
• Analyze current systems and recommend areas for improvement in integration, data sharing, reporting, etc.
• Participate in planning discussions and decisions related to business application lifecycle
3. Oversee implementation and project management
• Develop high level implementation plans for approved projects
• Coordinate implementation, changes and upgrades with outside vendors and consultants, serving as internal Project Manager
• Develop and execute Functional test plans and User Acceptance test plans and scenarios
• Develop documentation and coordinate training for users of new systems
• Produce and track metrics of project success and user acceptance
• Report project status regularly to business units and IT management
Qualifications: • 5+ years of progressive business analyst experience in an Information Technology environment
• Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business discipline
• Strong accounting background and understanding of business financials; Sarbanes-Oxley experience a plus
• In-depth knowledge of business system processes and tools that support Finance, Sales/Marketing & Human Resources
• Minimum 2 years of experience with the Great Plains ERP (Microsoft Dynamics GP) system or equivalent product (SAP, Oracle)
• Solid understanding of relational database technology, SQL reporting, and data analysis
• Experience working with in-house developed applications and integrating applications using standard interfaces
Special Knowledge/Skills Required: • Solid analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Strong project management skills, PMI certification preferred
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
• Superior verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization
• Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision to accomplish objectives on time
