Metadata Assistants / Interns
Join a team of metadata specialists and assistants to help launch a document management system within the corporate library of ITA Software. You’ll get first-hand experience with emerging portal and Internet technologies as you transition resources from various internal locations to structured and managed intranet information systems.
You will spend two thirds of your time reviewing documents related to the airline industry and software development. Your remaining time can be spent on projects of your choosing. These projects can include: search engine maintenance, user instruction, internal marketing, collection development, cataloging, or acquisition.
Responsibilities: • Subject analysis and non-AACR2 descriptive cataloging for internal documents
• Apply metadata standards consistently to schema and past usage
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications: • Attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
• Enthusiasm for new technologies and subject areas
Special Knowledge/Skills Required: • Experience and comfort using Windows XP, the Internet, search engines, word processing, spreadsheets and email
• Some graduate study in library science and the completion of a cataloging class preferable
• Available 20 hours a week (this position is flexible up to 30 hours a week)
